Dobre den (Good day) koutou!

We had our first public performance last night at the farm.

It was a lovely evening and the audience (numbering around a hundredadults and children) were delighted by our set. They are such lovelypeople - open and friendly and got right in to the interactive parts.

They enjoyedthemselves but at the same time were respectful of the poi and hakaand so grateful afterwards. One thing they love is mingling afterwards- the audience all stayed on to ask questions, have photos taken withus, thank us personally etc. When a rugby ball appeared we taughtsome of the kids how to pass and kick and they were pretty darn goodtoo! Essentially they love to experience new things and are not likeyour average pakeha at home who is afraid to try new things and isindifferent to our country's indigenous culture. So we enjoyed lastnight immensely as it is so refreshing to be around Europeans whovalue something culturally. Observing the social interactions, paceand fluidity of Slovakian culture, we observe that they are more likeus so it is no surprise we get on with each other....

We have two performances today - 2pm and 6pm - and then I will suggest to Milos that we have no performances over Monday-Thursday in order that we deal with the set-up matters. And so that the team can rest..

It is hard to believe that we have only been here five days - it seemslike a month! The girls need to suss out the best places to source materials and food as well, as the mannaki here is awesome but thefood a little different for Maori tastes. For example dinner at the hotel last night consisted of two sausages (large) smothered in mustard with dry bread! That was it! One of the sausages was hot as hell and hardly needed the mustard! So yeah we need to source kai similar to what we have at home to keep the troops happy.
