Update - 5 July 2009‏

Tena tatou

Tuatahi, kei te tangi te ngakau mo to tatou papa, a Hipi. Tuku atu to matou aroha ki te whanau Patea, ki te iwi nui hoki.

We attended Mass at Modrova yesterday, and following Mass, we remained in the chapel and conducted our own karakia and himene. Kemp asked the Parish Priest if it would be permissable to partake in the Holy Eucharist, and this was agreed upon.

Milos asekd for three boys and three girls to attend a tennis function at 1:00 p.m. in Trencin. Following Mass, we went for a quick stroll in Modrova Willage, before returning for lunch at the Hotel. We named the team to go to the tennis function (Ngahuia, Misty, Mel, Luke, Tarake and Riwaru, escourted by the one and only Kemp Matthew) and they went on their way. It ended up being a kids tennis tournament, sponsored by the Zoo Farm. The team did some waiata, and then turned their hand to the racket. They were acknowledged by the organisers, and brought back a basket of goodies to share.

While the tennis crew were doing their thing, the remaining ladies went to Ducove to do washing, and then on to Piestany to get some items from Tesco (ask Pak n Save). The boys erected some clothes lines on "the land", which we are yet to use. We had a bit of rain this afternoon, but the show still went on at 5:00 p.m. We had over 100 people at this performance, one of whom was from Kawakawa of all places. Also, one of the local ladies prepared some cakes for us, which was a lovely treat. The boys became acquainted with some English speaking girls (ha ha ha), and after dinner and karakia, the crew headed into Piestany for a night on the town (to meet up with their groupies). Hemi is the sober driver tonight, so we will have some reliable reports coming in to us soon.

So, another great day for the crew here. Milos informed us this afternoon that we will be performing in the Czech Republic in three weeks time. There is a big festival there (Lebeda Festival) being staged from 24-25 July at Rudimov, and we are performing on the 25 July. It is only 60 km from here, so closer than Milos willage we went to yesterday. The crew are excited about this opportunity, and although it is not a "corporate gig", it will hopefully open doors to corporate performances in the Czech Replublic. We also met the organiser of the Lebeda Festival (who is also a farmer!), and he seems like a nice bloke.

No weather report, as this is contained in the body of this daily update. But check out the following link for the Festival website: www.lebedafestival.cz.

Nga mihi,

Pikimai and Rawiri (Kemp is tired, and sleeping somewhere here in Slovakia lol).
