2nd SHIFT

on the first night in Seoul the team had dinner together and some of the team sampled the local beer and spirits hence there were a couple of sore heads the next morning. Thou MEL said the night life was Ka pai.

The following day we went to the main city and visit two markets. We met up with Tourism NZ staff in their offices and they treated us to a nice lunch which is just want the doctor ordered. This has been an excellent contact for us and they have been more than helpful. After lunch we went to another market where there are outlet stores and stuff.

The jet lag is starting to hit a couple namely Shaia and Rawharangi but they and all the team are coping well.

It is very muggy (27 degr) and quite smoggy and not that clean in some parts of Seoul. Some of the team are a bit nervous to sample the kai so i am encouraging them as much as possible or starve....all good. Everyone slept marae styles in one room!!

We have now arrived safely in Slovakia, though the flight from Seoul to Vienna seemed to last forever. We drove from Vienna to Madrova, and were welcomed by the local people in traditional costume, waiata, kai and vodka. When they said that Madrova was the size of Marton, well they lied. It is more the size of Pipiriki lol, or maybe Hunterville at a pinch! But there is a bus that runs into Piestany (my spelling is probably incorrect), and we are heading there on Wednesday for a look around.

We also had our first performance today (the entire team), and it went well. Most of our group are feeling the jet-lag and we are a bit run down, but the show went well. We have a rest day tomorrow (Monday), doing a hāngi Tuesday (our trial run), some guest performances on a Slovak TV breakfast show on Friday, (also doing a hāngi on Thursday for the breakfast show). At the moment we are only doing one show per day (30-40 minutes) on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, until the school holidays start, and then it will be daily. The people are very reserved, but extremely respectful of our culture.

keep you posted
